Why I Chose Co-Sleeping with My Baby - And How It Transformed Our Nights
Research, tips, and personal stories to help you make the right choice for your family

One sleepless night can change everything
Deciding where your baby will sleep is one of the most debated topics among new parents. I struggled with this decision for weeks, listening to advice from friends, doctors, and, of course, strangers on the internet. But one sleepless night changed everything.
When my daughter was two months old, I was completely exhausted. Endless nights of getting up to soothe her in her crib had drained my energy. One night, I decided to try co-sleeping - and it turned out to be the best decision for both of us. Why? Let’s explore together.
The choice is yours

Why co-sleeping can work
Breastfeeding becomes easier
With your baby close, nighttime feedings are more natural, and you can rest while feeding. Studies show that mothers who co-sleep tend to breastfeed for longer periods.
It strengthens your bond
Co-sleeping not only allows you to respond more quickly to your baby’s needs but also helps you better understand their signals. I learned to tell when my daughter was hungry or simply seeking comfort.Better sleep for parents
Surprisingly, co-sleeping can lead to better sleep for parents. You don’t need to get up and walk to another room to feed or check on your baby.
Backed by research
Mothers who practice co-sleeping are more likely to place their babies in the recommended sleep position - on their backs - which reduces the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This is highlighted in the Sleep-Related Infant Deaths: Updated 2022 Recommendations for Reducing Infant Deaths in the Sleep Environment by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Studies also show that co-sleeping babies cry less during the night, fall asleep faster, and wake up less frequently.
Addressing concerns: how to ensure safe co-sleeping
Your baby’s safety is always the priority. Co-sleeping can be safe and beneficial when done correctly. Here are some essential guidelines:
Use a firm mattress without pillows or blankets near the baby.
Always place your baby on their back to sleep.
Ensure there are no gaps where your baby could get trapped.
Avoid co-sleeping if you are a smoker, have consumed alcohol, or feel excessively tired.
